National Instruments GPIB Plug-In Controllers
National Instruments is a leading supplier of GPIB interfaces and provides an unparalleled variety of GPIB controllers. GPIB controllers monitor and detect activity on the GPIB. When the controller detects a device or instrument about to send a data message, or talk, it connects that talker device, which then broadcasts the message across the bus. Another device on the bus or the controller then assumes the role of the listener and receives that message.
National Instruments offers a wide variety of GPIB plug-in controllers with support for various operating systems. Plug-in controllers are available for:
- PCI Express: GPIB controller for connecting to instruments from a PC or workstation equipped with a PCI Express slot
- PCI: Family of GPIB controllers for connecting to instruments from PCs equipped with a PCI bus; includes a standard GPIB controller, a low-profile GPIB controller for small form-factor PCs equipped with low-profile PCI slots, a combination GPIB controller and Gigabit Ethernet port for PCI, and a GPIB controller for PMC
- PXI: Standard GPIB controller and a combination GPIB controller and Gigabit Ethernet port for the PXI platform
- PCMCIA: GPIB controller for use with notebook PCs equipped with a PC Card slot
- ISA: Standard and low-cost GPIB controller for PCs with ISA slots
